A lorry driver has been sentenced to 13-and-a-half years in prison after authorities discovered cocaine worth an estimated £7.2 million hidden inside a legitimate shipment of Skims clothing.
Border officers uncovered around 90kg of Class A drugs concealed within pallets of underwear and apparel at Harwich International Port. Investigators say the drugs were hidden in a specially modified trailer linked to an organised smuggling network.
The 40-year-old driver, who had reportedly been paid to transport the shipment from Europe into the UK, was arrested after border officials became suspicious and conducted an X-ray scan on the vehicle. Authorities say the discovery prevented a significant quantity of illegal drugs from reaching the streets.
