Hasaacas Ladies further strengthened their legacy in Ghana women’s football by winning the 2025/26 Women’s FA Cup, defeating Army Ladies in a tense penalty shootout on Sunday afternoon.
The highly anticipated final delivered on its promise, with both teams putting up a strong fight through regulation time and extra time before Hasaacas Ladies secured a 5–3 victory on penalties following a 1–1 draw after 120 minutes.
Going into the match, Hasaacas Ladies were eager to end the season on a high after their disappointment in the Women’s Premier League final defeat to Ampem Darkoa Ladies a month earlier. Meanwhile, Army Ladies were equally driven, seeking silverware after narrowly missing out on a spot in the league final.
The match began with both sides creating clear chances, but poor finishing and disciplined defending ensured the game remained goalless at halftime. In the second half, the intensity increased as each team pressed hard in search of the opening goal.
Hasaacas Ladies eventually broke the deadlock in the 87th minute through substitute Linda Epo, who finished calmly to send their supporters from Takoradi into celebration.
But the advantage was short-lived, as Esther Asamoah Yiadom once again underlined her value to Army Ladies. She scored her seventh goal of the tournament in the 89th minute to level the score and push the game into extra time.
Despite both teams creating chances in extra time, neither side could break the deadlock in the additional 30 minutes, pushing the final into a tense penalty shootout.
Hasaacas Ladies showed great composure from the spot, scoring all five of their penalties. Army Ladies converted three of their four attempts but missed a key kick, giving Hasaacas the edge and ultimately the championship.
The win represents Hasaacas Ladies’ second Women’s FA Cup title, following their previous triumph in the 2020/21 season. It also marks a historic milestone for head coach Raymond Fenny, who becomes the first manager to win the competition in consecutive seasons.
For Hasaacas Ladies, the victory provides a strong response to their league final setback and further cements their status as one of the leading teams in Ghana women’s football.
