Veteran Ghanaian football administrator Sylvester Nii Sabahn Quaye has died after battling a long illness. The former Hearts of Oak and Black Stars team manager had been away from active football duties in recent years due to health challenges.
His passing was confirmed by his family following earlier media reports. He was widely respected within the football community for his commitment, discipline, and long-standing service to the sport.
Quaye served as Team Manager of Hearts of Oak for many years, contributing significantly during some of the club’s most successful periods.
His experience later earned him an appointment as Team Manager of the Black Stars. In addition to his work with Hearts of Oak and the national team, he also held administrative roles at several clubs, including Legon Cities FC.
In recognition of his contributions to football, the Ghana Football Association, through its Foundation, visited him at his Accra residence in 2023 and donated GHS10,000 to assist with his medical care.
