The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is actively working to extinguish a major fire that has broken out at a rubber factory near Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra, with heavy rainfall complicating the response efforts.
Assistant Division Officer One (ADO1) Alex King Nartey from the GNFS Public Relations Department confirmed the incident during an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem.
He stated that four fire tenders have been dispatched to the scene to help bring the fast-spreading blaze under control.
While the exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined, he assured that firefighters are on site working to contain it. He also disclosed that another fire at a residential property in Sakaman Blue Lagoon had already been successfully put out. According to him, the intense rainfall has severely affected operations, as personnel who were responding from Circle to the Sakaman incident became stranded at Kaneshie.
“When the team got to Sakaman, they needed reinforcement, but when the Circle team moved, they were stranded at Kaneshie,” he said. Despite the difficulties posed by the weather, he reassured the public that the Fire Service continues to remain committed to its responsibilities.
He further noted that firefighters have also been deployed across Accra, especially to flood-prone areas, to support ongoing rescue operations.
