Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Awentami Paul Afoko, has contributed 400 bags of cement and GH¢30,000 towards the completion of the party’s Volta Regional Headquarters.
The support comes in response to an appeal made by the Volta Regional Executives during Mr Afoko’s recent visit to the region. Through the Regional Treasurer, the executives sought assistance to pave the compound of the newly completed regional secretariat, explaining that heavy rains often leave the area muddy and difficult to access.
In response to the request, Mr Afoko praised the facility, describing it as the finest NPP-owned regional headquarters in the country. He subsequently pledged what he referred to as his “widow’s mite” to help complete the project.
The donation was formally presented on his behalf by Mr David Apugiba, a former Hohoe Constituency Chairman, alongside the Secretary of the Council of Elders and other senior party members.
Receiving the donation, the Volta Regional Treasurer, Mr Wisdom Gakpo, expressed gratitude to Mr Afoko for the contribution. He was accompanied by the Volta Regional Chairman, Mr Makafui Kofi Woanyah.
“We thank Mr Awentami Paul Afoko for this timely gesture. We urge others to emulate his example as we collectively seek support to complete and maintain the party’s regional headquarters ahead of the 2028 general election,” Mr Gakpo said.
Mr Afoko, who led the NPP as National Chairman from 2014 to 2015, is campaigning to reclaim the position under his “3Rs” agenda — Reunite, Rebuild and Recapture.
