The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat has arrested four armed illegal miners during an intensified crackdown on galamsey activities along the Ankobra River.
Authorities say the suspects were found in possession of firearms during the operation as efforts continue to combat illegal mining and protect major water bodies from environmental destruction. The latest arrests form part of a wider nationwide campaign aimed at curbing galamsey activities and restoring affected river systems.
