Team Ghana secured a total of five medals at the conclusion of the recently held African Seniors Athletics Championships.
The six-day competition, hosted in Accra, featured athletes from 40 countries competing for titles and records at the University of Ghana Stadium.
At the conclusion of the 24th edition, Ghana finished with five medals but did not secure any gold, earning only silver and bronze.
Esther Obenewaa secured Ghana’s sole silver medal in the women’s high jump event.
Florence Agyemang won bronze in the women’s 400m after an impressive 51.87s run to place third.
Alex Amankwah also earned a bronze in the men’s 800m, clocking 1:46.18 seconds in the final, rewarding his consistent efforts over the years as the national record holder in the event.
Ghana also picked up medals in the 4x100m relay events, with the women’s team delivering a strong performance to secure bronze in the final race.
The men’s quartet, who entered as defending champions, also managed to claim bronze at the University of Ghana Stadium, finishing behind Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria.
